The Dominican Monastery & Museum is another architectural highlight in a transitional Gothic-Renaissance style with a rich trove of paintings. Built at the same time as the city walls in the 14th century, the stark exterior resembles a fortress more than a religious complex. The interior contains a graceful 15th-century cloister constructed by local artisans after the designs of the Florentine architect Massa di Bartolomeo, and a large, single-naved church with an altarpiece by VlahoBukovac.

The eastern wing contains the monastery’s impressive art collection, which includes paintings from Dubrovnik’s finest 15th- and 16th-century artists. Notice the works of Nikola Božidarević, Dobrić Dobričević and Mihajlo Hamzić.

Across the square from the Rector’s Palace is the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin . The church was built on the site of a 7th-century basilica that was enlarged in the 12th century, supposedly as the result of a gift from England’s King Richard I, the Lionheart, who was saved from a shipwreck in the nearby island of Lokrum. Soon after the earlier cathedral was destroyed in the 1667 earthquake, work began on this new cathedral, which was finished in 1713 in a purely baroque style.

The cathedral is notable for its fine altars, especially the altar of St John Nepomuk made of violet marble.

Just as the streets of Dubrovnik were not built to be seen by carriage, but by foot, it is certain that the best views of the Dubrovnik region are from the sea.

Aboard the historical Galleon is certainly the best way to make the most of such scenery. During your cruise you will see the three most beautiful islands of the Dubrovnik archipelago. The islands of Kolocep, Lopud and Ipan are commonly known as the Elafiti islands. The old legend of the islands is hidden in it’s name which is comes from the old Greeks hunting for deer and subsequently naming the islands the Deer islands.

Green Islands is beautiful with gardens full of oranges and lemons, lovely seashore landscapes, charming and picturesque villages with harmonious architecture of summer manors, old seaman’s houses and little votive churches. Visit all the three Elaphite Islands and enjoy your lunch of grilled fish and wine while being entertained by our local musicians. Come on board!

In the charming village of Orasac take part in the production of olive oil in the old fashioned way, where the mill is driven by a horse. This trip through time will certainly delight you. Here you will also have the opportunity to taste some home made cheese, smoked ham and wine. All this in an old house which has not changed much through the ages.

In the times of the Dubrovnik Republic, Ston was the second most important town. It’s wealth was derived from the salt works that are still in function today. Although being known for the spectacular city walls, that are considered to be the second longest in the world, today this region is predominantly known as the oyster capital of Croatia.

Here you will be served a nice sea food platter (octopus, mussels, small fish and an oyster). Finally you’ll pay a visit to one of the best known wine producers of the region.

The Peljesac peninsula has for ages been known for it’s excellent wines. And the Miloš family wine cellar is today certainly one of the foremost representatives of this production. During the visit to the cellar a pleasant wine tasting will be organized.

Marco Polo belongs to the heritage of the whole world! Other explorers before him have changed the world’s idea of geography, however, Marco Polo changed its history… and Korcula is his hometown!

The island of Korcula undoubtedly holds a very privileged position among the Croatian islands. Here on this island you can find more legends, tales and monuments than anywhere else. Since the native people of Korcula have always worked as stonemasons, shipbuilders and seafarers their works can be found all over the world. Yet, they have managed to save the best examples for their own city of Korcula.

We invite you to experience the narrow streets, beautiful churches and magnificent palaces of one of the best-preserved Medieval towns in the Mediterranean. Our walking tour around the town will take you to the Cathedral, the City Museum and the Bishop’s Palace. After the sightseeing tour, there is free time for lunch or swimming before returning to Dubrovnik via the historic town of Ston.

This is a city of poetry, stone and narrow streets, the city where the traveler from the north feels the first breeze of the Mediterranean air, imbued with the scents of citrus and sea whereas the traveler from the south reaches the first glimpses of the continent beyond.

The town is exceptional for its dwellings and monuments, assembled harmoniously over the centuries thanks to the favorable geographical conditions and the sound economic climate. Visit the city sights, which include the Old Bazaar, the Turkish House and one of the many old Mosques. After the guided tour of the town you will have some free time for a stroll among the many old craft shops or for lunch in one of the picturesque local restaurants.

Montenegro is one of the last undiscovered secrets, the country whose vast natural and spiritual assets refuse to fit into any commercial pattern. Exotic landscapes are not always distant and unapproachable. Only one hour car drive from Dubrovnik, Montenegro offers an unforgettable experience, exceptional natural beauty in combination with a rich history and culture. This is a land where the mountains descend almost directly into the sea creating a surreal atmosphere.

Enjoy the drive around the Kotor Bay with its numerous small settlements; make a stop in the Medieval Kotor to soak in the typical Mediterranean lifestyle; proceed up towards the mountains to visit Cetinje, (which once used to be the center town of the Montenegrin rulers); stroll around in Budva, (the ancient town which is today a lively tourist resort.) Montenegro is all this and much more!

IMPORTANT: Passport and relevant visa is required. Please note that the official currency of Montenegro is the EURO

The part of the Adriatic Sea belonging to the Republic of Croatia ranges from Prevlaka in the south to cape Savudrija in the west, embracing all islands, islets and cliffs along the coast, including the archipelago of Palagruza. No other areas in Europe possesses such unique opportunities for cruising, whether with motor boats, speedboats or sailboats. The breathtaking scenery of more than a thousand dazzling islands along the Croatian coast, combined with the unpolluted crystal clear sea, will satisfy even the most demanding nautical enthusiasts.

For those interested in exploring the magic’s of the underwater world we included a special section about diving opportunities in and around Dubrovnik. Croatia has long been proud over its picturesque beaches and marinas. The recognition regarding the quality of sea water and other ecological parameters came when beaches and marinas across the Croatian coast begun receiving the Blue Flag reward. The Blue Flag is an exclusive eco-label awarded beaches and in countries across Europe. The Blue Flag Campaign is owned and run by the independent nonprofit organization Foundation for Environmental Education in Europe (FEEE). It symbolizes high environmental standards as well as good sanitary and safety facilities at the beach/marina.

In the year 1999 ACI marina Dubrovnik along with five other ACI marinas was awarded the “European Blue Flag”, an environmental award, given to communities that make a special effort to keep their beaches and marinas clean and manage them with consideration for the local environment. The marina has been nominated for the same award in the year 2000.

If you can, try to avoid traveling on one of notorious weekends during the summer. Traffic jams are the worst on weekend around July 15th, August 1st and August 15th. In fact, new motorways have enabled Croatians to reach the sea in 3-4 hours so many locals are taking short weekend breaks on Friday afternoon returning on Sunday evening which is a guarantee for blocked motorways.

So better try planning your trip so that you don’t get stuck in traffic jams for hours. Going a day earlier or postponing your trip for next Monday or Tuesday will mean a less stressful travel.

If you must hit the road on one of the busy summer weekends make sure you bring lots of patience and lots of water. And good luck to you!
